Crochet granny Cowl

Ignore the editing done by my sis. :P
Hey guys, I know I have been away for too long but here's an awesome pattern for all of you guys to get ready for fall (winter here in Kuwait).

This cowl is lightweight and easy to make. I used light colors to prevent focusing on the neck excessively but you could use darker colors if you want. Make it as long as you want. Easy, quick and lightweight project just for you guys!

Note: This cowl is basically a square folded into half and tied around the neck.

So Shall we get Started?

Materials:
  • lightweight yarn in light or dark color
  • 4.0 mm hook
Pattern:
  1. Begin with a Slip Knot.
  2. Chain 6. Join with a slip stitch to form a ring.
  3. Chain. 3
  4.  2 double crochet, chain 2, (3 double crochet, chain 2) 3 times
  5. Slip stitch to join to the 3rd chain stitch from foundation loop.
  6. Work 3 slip stitches so that your crochet hook is adjacent to the space formed by the closest set of chain stitches.
  7.  Chain 3, 2 dc in space, chain 2 to form corner, 3 double crochet in same space, chain 2, (3 double crochet in next space, chain 2 to form corner, 3 double crochet in same space, chain 2) 3 times, slip stitch to join to the 3rd chain stitch you crocheted at the beginning of the round
  8. Work 3 slip stitches so that your crochet hook is adjacent to the space formed by the closest set of chain stitches. Chain 3, 2 double crochet in space, chain 2 to form corner, 3 double crochet in same space, chain 2, (3 double crochet in next space, chain 2, 3 double crochet in next space, chain 2 to form corner, 3 double crochet in same space, chain 2) 3 times, 3 double crochet in next space, chain 2, slip stitch to join to the 3rd chain stitch you crocheted at the beginning of the round.
  9. You can continue adding as many rounds as you want to your granny square. Each subsequent round will follow the same basic procedures used in the preceding rounds. You'll start with 3 chain stitches substituting for the first double crochet. In the corners, you will work 2 sets of 3 double crochet stitches separated by 2 chain stitches. Otherwise, you will work 3 double crochet stitches in each space, separated by 2 chain stitches on either side.
  10. Continue making as many rounds as you want or until your square is 25 inches long and wide.
  11. Fasten off and weave in all loose ends.
  12. Lay your square on a flat surface and fold it into a triangle by meeting the opposite ends.
  13. Hold the two long corners and tie it around your neck or you could even add an extra string to use it to tie around your neck.
Voila! Your cowl is ready!

Pair it with any t-shirt and jeans outfit or a dress OR you could even make a beanie using the same color and wear it along with the cowl.
